Mapped Drives

    Question

  • Hi I need assistance.

    I can map to my files in Azure on my Windows 10 machine with no issue. The mapped drive shows up and all works great. However attempting to map the drive onto other machines fails each time with Access is denied System error 5. I am baffled as it works fine from my machine. We are in the same network but have a mixture of success.

    We use the following:

    cmdkey /add:STORAGEACCOUNTNAME.file.core.windows.net /user:STORAGEACCOUNTNAME /pass:STORAGEACCOUNTKEY==

    The above command works on all the systems with no issues.

    Next we use

    net use K: STORAGEACCOUNTNAME\\.file.core.windows.net\store01 /u:STORAGEACCOUNTNAME STORAGEACCOUNTKEY==

    On my machine success. On others no go. Any ideas????

  • Hello,

    • Open Internet access for port 445 (TCP Outbound) in your local network, as is required by the SMB protocol.

    Please,mark it as read if that helped you!

    Thank you!

  • Which OS is the other machines? Windows 10 uses SMB 3.0 which is supported. Windows 7 is SMB 2.1 which isn't supported.

    Have you narrowed it down to see if its an OS problem?
