Multiple processes in Windows store app

    Question

  • Hi,

Is it possible to create a Windows store app which can run multiple processes? How can these processes communicate?

    Thanks.

  • You can create an out-of-proc COM object from one included in your app package. See Creating a Windows Runtime EXE component with C++ sample .

Once you have that the components can communicate through most any normal means of IPC. The barrier is at the app container boundary, and since they are in the same app container they are in the same security context.

  • Thanks Rob. This is very useful. This essentially provides a two process model in a windows store app.

Can this be extended to more than two processes? i.e. can more than 1 EXE component be created using this method.

    Thanks
