How can I get an event trace from usbstor.sys on Windows 8? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using logman as shown:

    > logman create -n awusbstor -o %systemroot%\tracing\awusbstor.etl

    > logman update trace -n awusbstor -p "USB Storage Driver Tracing Provider"

    > logman start -n awusbstor

Then I connect a flash drive to my USB over IP device (and it fails to enumerate which is why I'm trying to get traces).

    > logman stop -n awusbstor

It creates an etl file but there's nothing in it but some headers and FF's.  I've also trying using the GUID for the storage driver provider instead of the friendly name but that doesn't work.  As a sanity check I tried getting tracing when connecting a USB flash drive to native USB port and that doesn't work either.
