MS Access 2007 to SQL Migration Assistant 2008 for Access version 4.0.1336 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We cannot connect the SQL Server Migration Assistant to the SQL Server we have. Do we have to install the IIS on windows XP Pro (our operating system)  in order to create this connection or does the problem lie elsewhere?

How do we set the permissions in the SQL server management studio? We set server properties for the database and the server, however in the Migration Assistant the sql connection fields are coming up blank and we cannot connect to the SQL Server. The connect to SQL Server 2008 (Migration Wizard) is coming up blank for Server Name, Server Port, and Database also the Authentication is not showing the User Name or Password.

  • Hello,

Using SQL Server Configuration Manager enable TCP/IP and Named Pipes protocols.

On the “Connect to Server” dialog of SQL Management Studio, specify a dot as SQL Server instance name or the name of the Windows XP computer. Please see the end of the following article:

    Hope this helps.
