LOOPING: Shift Schedule Planning RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I am trying to develop a MS Access database that will assist in Shift Schedule Planning ( 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, hour shifts).  I have to plan for over a hundred peoples schedule and ensure that I have appropriate coverage on a weekly basis (Monday through Sunday).  I would work of a Master Schedule (like a template of employee ideal schedules) which may be changes as time continued.  I was thinking that some type of LOOP program would work because I feel there is a need to loop back to Monday from the end of Sunday, but I am not sure how to start it.  Any Ideas?

  • Hi. Access can pretty much do just about anything, but you'll have to provide the logic to tell it what to do. You might try looking for templates, just in case they're available (I don't know of any off hand). Otherwise, if you can tell us the logic or "business rules" for scheduling, then we might be able to assist. Cheers!
