DataBase with Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am building an application that needs to access a database. I installed the SQLite.net, made references to SQLite for Windows Runtime and Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Packages.
Now, how do I connect to the database? In other words, what are the Visual Basic codes? Note that I do not see a DataSet or DataGridView in the tools menu like there is in Visual Basic 2008 that I am more familiar with
I am using Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8 (not the desktop version) and I code in Visual Basic.<o:p></o:p>

  • Hi,ADPYvette

Refer to the link below to see how to use SQLite in windows store app:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/dn263243.aspx

And there is a sample you can see:

    http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/Using-SQLite-in-a-Windows-c16aea77

Otherwise, in windows store app, there have not DataSet or DataGridView, you can use Gridview or Listview control.See these links below to get more information about how to use Gridview or Listview control and how to bind data to controls:

  • The above links are all programmed in C# and I am using Visual Basic.

Would you have examples or tutorials on how to use SQLite with Visual Basic. It's easy to do with Visual Studio for Windows 8 desktop but, I have not found any info on how to do it with the RT version of Visual Studio.

  • Hi,

VB and C# are extremely similar.  You should be able to read the C# and make the adjustments as they use the exact same objects.  If you have any other questions about SQLite, please ask them in the SQLite forums.

    Best Wishes!
