Not able to start Window Service which is developed in VC++ on windows 2008. Same service is working fine on windows 2003 server. RRS feed

  • Dear Team,

    I have windows services that are up and running in windows 2003 for last 4-5 years.

    I'm getting below error when same service when I'm trying to start from services.msc. there is no issue on permission.

  • This is not a .NET framework class libraries related question, but anyway...

    You may need to recompile the service EXE on a machine with Visual Studio 2002 SP1 installed and rebuild the deployment package there. There is no redistributable installer for VS2002/2003 C++ runtime.

    Alternatively you can try to compile the EXE in newer version of Visual Studio, but in this way you may need to fix some syntax changes on these version. Especially for VS2013 that have insecure functions like gets() removed from the standard library.
