Default Chrome for web parts RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone know of a way to set the default chrome type setting for a particular web part to 'None'? I would like the content editor web part's chrome type to be set to 'None' by default when the users add it to the page. For the time-being I have set the 'PartChromeType' attribute to 'None' in the page layout web part zones. I was just wondering if it's possible to do this at the web part level. Thanks!

  • I would suspect that it is something you would define in the Web Part definition file (.webpart or .dwp depending on the base class). As soon as you set the chrome to None and then export the Web Part the Chrome property should be persisted in the .webpart/.dwp file. As soon as you upload the definition file to the Web Part gallery your Web Part should have the default chrome set to None.
