Connecting from an on premise SQL 2012 to Azure SQL giving error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have an SSIS job that is scheduled to run on an on premise SQL 2012 database. This job updates\deletes some data on an Azure database by selecting it from the on premise database. This works some times but not all the time. The failure is not consistent. It fails with the following error. I am using SQLOLEDB.1 Provider.

Error Code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Connection failure"

  • If conncetion is failing only sometimes it could be problem with workload. Check logs for periods when connection is failing and try figuring out why.

I can also recommend trying to upgrade database tier to see if this can resolve your issue.
