The 32-bit replica of msiprov.dll is not provided with Win 7 64 bit OS and Windows Vista 64 bit OS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,I have just started to get my hands dirty in Windows development.I have a question ,rather it is more of a doubt.I have a 32 bit application that uses a few of the WMI classes like Win32_PublishComponentAction,etc.

My 32 bit app is trying to search for the WMI provider ,msiprov.dll ,to access these classes.Since it is a 32-bit application it is trying to search for this app in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\wbem .

What I noticed is the 32 bit versions of these DLLs are unavailable in the Win 7 64-bit OS and Win Vista 64-bit OS.Though the 64bit version of this DLL is available in C:\Windows\System\wbem folder. So ,I hope you see the problem.

My question is ,are there any service packs Windows has delivered that provides these Dlls to its customers ?
