migration from .net 2.0 to .net 4.6.1

Currently our product is using .net 2.0. We have to migrate it to .net 4.6.1. We are using aspx files to give calls to VC projects.Does we need to rebuild/recompile all project with .net 4.0 compatibility or we can run with same project with compatibility mode of .net 2.0 ?

If yes then please suggest steps ..

I have been able to run 2.0 applications by giving them their own Application Pool in IIS, and setting the .Net Framework Version to 2.0.  However, it is recommended that you rebuild your project using the newer framework.

Hi sambhajilimkar,

I agree with AZMatt's suggestion, it's recommend to migrate the .net 2.0 to .net 4.6.1.

Based on my experience, you need to rebuild/compile all projects with .net 4.0 compatibility.

Note: Remember to backup your .net 2.0 project before migrating.
