Windows embedded 8 Standrad image bulid and WES7 image build are same or diffrent RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi team,

I am posting this question twice,

Please could you tell me what is the process of building image  in WE8S ?Is this same as WES7? or something different ?

As i have seen in WES7 toolkit is chargeable but in WE8S the toolkit is free of cost , so i am confused why Microsoft did this things, if suppose they both are same,

and please tell me what is major difference b/w both.

    Can you please response asap.

  • WES7 is based on Windows 7, WE8S is based on Windows 8. The development tools are similar, but WE8S added the ability to create package rather than using distribution share. WE8S was the last version created by the Windows Embedded Team. There was some interesting ideas, but it is not a great tool chain. I would recommended using Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry instead of WE8S.
