SQL Service pack on Cluster server

    Question

  • Dear guys,

Can anyone provide me a check list for applying service pack on cluster server?

We need Pre- installation check list and Post- Installation check list to apply service pack on Cluster server!

  • Steps I consider :-

    Pre

    1) Copy Service Pack File
    2) Take fresh System DB backup
    3) Copy ResoruceDB files
    4) Ensure User Databases has latest backup in system

    Installation
    1) Install on Passive Node (Node 2)
    2) Reboot Passive Node (Node 2)
    3) Move SQL to Passive Node (Node 2)
    4) Install on Active Node (Node 1)
    5) Reboot (Node 1)
    6) Move SQL to Node 1

    Post
    1) Check Version of SQL is updated
    2) Zero errors in SQL Server error log file
    3) Zero errors in Windows event log
    4) Zero errors in installation summary
    5) Take fresh System DB backup
