Migrating from TFS 2010 to TFS 2013, and SQL Server is on a different server RRS feed

  • Question

  • My current setup is TFS 2010 is on one server and uses SQL Server 2008 R2 on a different server. I want to migrate from TFS 2010 to 2013 while leaving SQL Server on a separate server. Will I need to upgrade my version of SQL Server even though it is running on a different server than TFS 2013 would be?

I've read the requirements for TFS 2013, and it says it wants SQL Server 2012 with SP1.  But is that still necessary when SQL Server is on a different server?

  • Hi Jason,

    Thanks for your post.

Yes, you need to install SQL Server 2012 SP1 for TFS 2013 Server,  no matter install on the same machine with TFS 2013 or install on another machine.
