Both Application insights and log Analytics are under the service name Log Analytics in billing? how to tell which part is Application insight data volume? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I think that is the problem, Application Insights is charged by data volume. And Both Application insights and log Analytics are under the service name Log Analytics in billing… so there is no meter to tell whether the data volume is from real Application insight?

The statement to describe Data volume of Application insight.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/app/pricing

Your application's data volume charges are now reported on a new billing meter named Data Ingestion as of April 2018. This new meter is shared across monitoring technologies such as Applications Insights and Log Analytics and is currently under the service name Log Analytics.

  • Thanks Zhuang0123 for using Application Insights.

If you are looking at an individual Application Insights resource from the App Insights blade, you can use Usage and Estimated costs to see approximately how much that individual resource is costing by data volume. If you are looking at Usage and estimated cost from the context of the Azure Monitor blade , you can still see estimated bill for all Application Insights resources by only selecting the Application Insights meter category:

Additionally you can download usage details from the Azure Portal which will show the usage per resource per day. You can please refer here for the documentation.  Please filter to only ingested data, you will see which Application Insights or Log Analytics resources the data (and hence charges) are coming from.

Hope the information helps, please revert back if you have any further queries.
