Metro IE10 chromeless browisng with sites blocking right click. Usability nightmare on non tablet system.

    Question

  • I am using a Toshiba satellite non tablet laptop. No touchscreen. When using Metro IE only way to get to list of active table is via right clicking. Ctrl+F4 shortcut does not work to close a tab. But that's a usability nightmare when you are on sites which block rightclick for whatever reason.

    e.g. http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex9/noright.htm

You can not get out of that tab, not go to address bar,  not close that tab. Only way to get out is to press start key, and click on IE tile. Which is not intuitive.

  • mvadu,

Microsoft is monitoring these forums for issues and concerns. This will be reported up so that the right people are made aware of your concern.

As a workaround, the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + T will create a new tab and navigate away from the scripted site that prevents right click. Ctrl + W can also be used to close the current tab.

    Thanks,

    Chris

  • may be for non-touch machines - we could have gesture based controls (like on Opera).

  • Thanks Chris for assuring that right people will be made aware of issues like this. I tried Ctrl+T and it works, but this will be classic support call issue if not fixed before release.
