Why does Microsoft make Smart Device (Windows CE or Windows Mobile) applications impossible? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

What is the idea of Microsoft to make mobile development more difficult or impossible?

First, Windows 10 does not recognize a Windows Mobile or Windows CE device anymore when connected to an USB port. Why???????

Second, I need the device emulator to be able to connect to Internet, but it requires Virtual PC 2007 network driver which cannot be installed in Windows 10. Why a complete different software depends on another software that cannot be installed in the system? this is ridiculous.

    Any workaround for this? Thanks

    Regards,

  • Hi

    Workaround is here:

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/9cab3e8e-6cc4-48e4-8ed9-d595bc83f04b/windows-mobile-device-centre?forum=win10itproapps

Read post from mojosmith and next one from Alexander Demidovich.

You don't need Virtual PC 2007 to connect to internet.

In WMDC choose DMA . Next connect and cradle pc emulator.

  • Thank you very much....

with respect to WMDC, where is DMA option? I cannot find it.

EDIT: notice that I mean Device Emulator. Device emulator does not use WMDC.

  • Hello... sorry to disturb you again, but, it works when connecting to Internet but not for local net addresses.

For example, using IE I enter this at the URL: http://192.168.0.20/Servicio/Cliente/Obtiene

When I enter that same URL in other PC, it works.

If I change 192.168.0.20 by a hostname in Internet, it works.

It did not work even when I configured WMDC to use work network instead of automatic.

    Any help, please?

    Thanks

  • Finally I have solved it using this workaround.

I created a subdomain in Internet under my main domain that points to my PC. That way, from the device emulator I connect to that Internet address which redirects requirements to my local network.

In summary, I have deceived the emulator.
