Equivalent property in 7 to Map.EnableShapeDisplayThreshold in 6.3? RRS feed

  • Question

  • was the property EnableShapeDisplayThreshold from 6.3 carried forward to 7? I don't seem to see any documented property or option which would appear to turn off the auto filtering. Of course if auto filtering isn't the default behavior then it is a mute point.

  • I haven't noticed any filtering of the data  on the map so that's why it's likely not there. With that said I've written similar functionality for the Silverlight control and with the right settings you can make the lower resolution data look virtually unchanged but significantly reduce the data. I'm hoping this is being done as that would make for a much better mapping platform. Will have to investigate when I get a change.

  • I just found this post after searching for an answer to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6767224/can-i-disable-route-rendering-optimization-in-the-bing-maps-ajax-control

Ricky - could you (or anyone else MS) confirm whether auto-reduction of shapes never occurs in the v7.0 control (in which case it's up to the developer to simplify their shapes - that's fine)? If not, and shapes are being simplified, is there a way to disable this?

  • I don't believe this in the control at the moment. I thought about creating a blog on this but the list of blog posts to write is getting long. I have a nice solution for the Silverlight control that uses vertex reduction that I hope to post soon.
