Windows CPU Threshold Trigger RRS feed

  • Question

  • Background: There are several instances wherein, we see CPU spiking to 100%, and not staying for a long time there until we login to check, not allowing us to capture more data, as to what is causing the CPU to spikes. We are in dire need for a solution as this is not on single server.

We know and are well aware of the Traces/Perfmon tools available to capture, but, on the high intensive production servers that are already under pressure, we don't want to put an extra load, and we are looking to capture all instances of CPU spikes.

We are looking for some System(Windows) level triggers, that can be used to run a small data collection program that captures more details.

Please suggest any approach if at all there is a possibility to achieve the requirement.

  • I don't think you will find any. one of sysinternals tools (I think procdump) let's you trigger a dump based on a CPU usage threshhold
