Printing to Second Page despite all attempts to keep to 1 Page

I have a customer who came to me with a printing issue.
Printing in Microsoft Project has always been a challenge but there are some well established work-around fixes. However in this case no matter what we do we cannot overcome the issue being encountered.
My customer wants to print their plan to a single page - they have filtered and collapsed summary tasks to exclude lines in the plan so as to make a single page print legible.
Regardless of what we do the last task in the plan always displays as a single line on a second (vertical) page of the plan. A workaround has been to add a dummy task to the plan so that it appears on the second page but this is not really a satisfactory long term solution.
Has anyone else encountered this issue and if so how did they overcome it?
