Missing "Edit Template" menu item in context menu in Element Tree (DCHeckler) - 3/12/2006 10:02 PM PST RRS feed

I'm probably missing something, but I am in the "Fabrikam Catalog Part 2:
Control Templates". Int he last few steps, attempting to re-use my
"PanelTemplate" control template for the "DetailsPane" element. However, the
"Edit Template" menu item is missing in that elements context menu (and
    property sheet).
I've actually done this successfully before. Under what conditions would the
"Edit Template" menu item dissapear from a context menu?

    Thanks.

The "Edit Template" menu is only available when the selection is an element
that has a Template. So if you selection is a Panel (like Grid or Canvas) or
a Shape (like Rectangle or Ellipse), the option will not be available.

Please let us know if you still have trouble getting to it.

    Thanks,

Yes, very helpful. Your info led me back into the tutorial where I found that
I forgot to place a ContentControl prior to placing my GridPanel, therefore I
kept referring to the Grid rather than the Content Control. Many Thanks.
