Inheritance and Entity Framework violate normalization in database? RRS feed

I am setting up a project using Code First method. I have a Contractor class and an Electrician class. My Electrician class inherits Contractor for basic information that would be used for all types of contractors. When I add a controller and save  a Contractor then add Electrician, my database has one table called Contractor. It uses a discriminator column for the different classes. Is this a violation of data normalization?
