system.ni.dll symbols

    Question

  • Hi!

I have a function inside System.ni.dll which takes a lot of time, and I'd like to know which one it is. I've setup the microsoft server symbols, and all symbols seem to be treated correctly but I'm getting an error stating that all .ni.dll files can't load symbols.

How can I load them? If not able, how can I build a debug version which doesn't use native dlls but its CLR version?

    Thanks!

  • .NI files are Native Images generated locally by the NGEN service, and won't be available on MS Symbols server.  Having non-mixed mode debugging with symbols loaded for System.dll should be sufficient.  (Feel free to share a dmp from your long running call and I'll try to tell you what the stack is)
