WES7 + WES2009 dualboot for easier in-house testing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

i am having trouble with creating a dual boot image with WES7 and WES2009.

Once everything is formatted (with a new disk-id) and wim images are applied, WES7 and my recovery partition start fine.
But once i boot into WES2009 for the first time, the first start reseal tasks seem to change the disk-id again making the BCD store invalid. XP still start ok. I used a legacy entry in the BCD store which continues to work even with the new disk-id.

i verified that the issue is with the disk-id, i checked the content of the BCD store (loaded as reg-hive).

Are there any tricks (e.g. registry settings) to make fbareseal skip generating a new disk-id?

  • Have you tried a 3rd party BCD edit program?
