Windows service stops intermittently RRS feed

  • Question

  • I wrote a windows service program in .Net Framework 2.0 which will run under Local System account with startup type as automatic. I am using a timer control to download a file from our SFTP server once in a day. My setup wizard includes a service installer  to install this service on clients machine. This windows service runs okay for a couple of days and stops abruptly once in a while. It depends on Chilkat SFTP server component to download a file from our SFTP server. Occassionally i find this error in my eventlog. I contacted Chilkat earlier regarding this problem and they don't think this is anything to do with their component. I tend to agree as well. This Chilkat is deployed in GAC.

  • Why not remove the service aspect of this and make this a scheduled operation kicked off once a day? Hence removing any smarts in the program to kick itself off....HTH
