Distinguishing between what's too close and what's too far RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey everyone,

I was wondering if there was a way I could determine whether the 0's returned by the depth sensor where due to the objects being too close to the sensor (within 800mm) or too far (beyond 4000mm)?

    Thanks all!

  • If the entire object is too close no. If only part of it is then somewhere along the edge of that region is something at the 800mm plane. So you can use a flood fill algorithm to find the edges and check those to see if they're at or about 800mm.

  • The sensor would have to measure the distance in order to give you that information. If the sensor could measure that distance, it would probably be easier to just give you the distance.
