List your games (for others to check out) here RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • This sticky thread is a place where you can list any games that you want others in the forum to check out.  Since you can edit your post you can keep updating the links to your games.  People can write comments on the game's project details page, which should also keep the thread more focused.

  • I guess I'll kick things off.

This one's a retelling of Plato's Allegory of the Cave I made for my mom on Mother's Day (she's a philosophy professor):

I had to make it really easy since she doesn't really get the whole video game thing, but it has some cool examples of how to do special effects like shadows, fade-ins and dialogue.

And here's a very short platformer example that served as the prototype for some of our jumping games:

Be careful - it's got a strong discincentive to losing Smile

Don't forget to rate people's projects when you play them!

    • Battle Tank: Play against a friend (on the same keyboard currently) to see who can destroy the other tank first!
    • Bomberman: A simple 1-player game that replicates the early bomberman days. This game includes: multiple lives, multiple levels and multple powerups!

    • Alien Destruction : This is a vertical scrolling space shooter game. I wrote this from scratch. Fly up and shoot aliens, but if you reach the and of the level prepare to fight the boss!

I added some fairly "advanced" stuff to this one. I used alot of custom code to get certain stuff to work. It has Random enemies, scenery, several powerups, multiple states, lives, a highscore and awesome boss fight which uses an cool special weapon. The boss also has an life meter which shows how much you still have to shoot!

  • Just watched the video tutorial and made my own game based on it. Just added mouse control, tweaked the size to get an arcade feel and added a hit-point system for the enemy ships. I loved Popfly, it can be a great prototype tool for non-coding game designers like me

    UFO Fireworks

    Hugs.

  • I just started using Popfly a couple of days ago and my first finished game is Rocket MAZE.

Basically, you play as a spaceship and you have to fly through various mazes to get to the star at the end of the level, without touching the walls of the maze.

If so, check out Cac Attack, a Metroid spinoff I created recently:

  • Ninja Nerdboy -- http://www.popfly.com/users/jmoore/Ninja%20Nerdboy

Basic game with enemies, treasure, weapon and health refills, and an end boss.  Persistent state management on objects so that enemies to defeat in one scene do not reappear if you come back to that scene.  End boss uses time-triggered shield to make it a little more difficult.

  • here my 68k clock
    http://www.popfly.com/users/tetsu-jp/68K%20LED%20CLOCK%203

it is not a game as there is nothing to play, but it is using the popfly engine,
and the javascript can be viewed/edited in the popfly game creator!

    I display it here:
    http://uc.mtfujitown.info (bottom)
and here: http://sun.ap.teacup.com/tetsuo (this is a blog)

I have no idea how I could use facebook, myspace or twitter in the same
way as on the web site, and the blog!

    instead I use:
    MSN spaces: http://spaces.live.com
    and MULTIPLY: http://multiply.comhttp://alex2705.multiply.com

when I search Myspace, for AKIRA keyword, the first thing I notice is,
that there are loads of double entries.
the second thing i notice is that NO ONE has graphics or entries about this subject.
so maybe some user accounts are computer generated?

why I do not use POPFLY so much is the lack of features, such as no database, and no scripting based
    on source code files.
recently i have installed a new .ASP script, it is written in VB, for a buttons plug board.

how could MASHUP, FACEBOOK or POPFLY be used, to have the same functionality?
    http://heliplug.mtfujitown.info
indeed I'd say, it would not be possible as easy as a few small VB scripts.

I mean this plugboard has real functionality, can be used for a real-world purpose,
not just these useless facebook apps.

OK if they can use POPFLY, it won't be so useless...
but where are facebook pages with POPFLY app's showing up for real, like on my blog/webpage?

    ***

another thing is the obscure run for facebook web addresses.
I do not like even the idea.
I use web addresses in a different way:
    http://www.youtube.com/channel/bandai2009

so you could have a BANDAI channel too, if you really wanted to.

I do not believe there are 200 million facebook users.
I do not even believe there are 20 million meaningful users.
the whole interface is poor, slow, and restrictive.

just to show you, twitter and facebook are not needed to show a popfly game on the internet.
well, yes, I know, Yahoo geocities is closing down this year, so you can not use it anymore for web pages. and in the US, blogging providers who allow IFRAME are very rare indeed.

it is unfortunate that neither MULTIPLY nor LIVE SPACES allow POPFLY gadgets.
so the only way to show them in the US is to use commercial web hosting.

by the way this is also YAHOO GEOCITIES, and won't be closed dow!
    http://outdoor.geocities.jp/astroboy2811
it is neither LINUX nor Win Server based, they are using BSD UNIX, and CGI.

I'd like to create more popfly stuff, but on my internet browser's it's very buggy,
and I can not find relevant documentation.
