Installing SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 fails RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 on one of the server. This server is Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, 64 bit. currently, this server has build version 10.50.1617.0.Below is the log file resulting from SP install. I am unable to find the reason for failed installation.

btw, I found lot of messages in Event viewer when I tried to install SP1:

The description for Event ID '-2147477645' in Source 'Wlclntfy' cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display the message, or you may not have permission to access them.

There are plenty of such messages. I did start WMI from Services before I started installation. I am admin on the box so, i don;t think there is any issue with permissions.
