Is MODI component available in office 2010?

  • Hi All

    Is MODI (Microsoft Office Document  Imaging ) component tool is available in Microsoft Office 2010 ?

    MSDN document say that it is deprecated?

    can we use that for application programming?

  • You can still use OCR from the OneNote.

    @henryboy - The OCR component that is part of MODI is not deprecated in Office 2010. In fact, you will be able to use this functionality as part of OneNote. In other words, OneNote has functionality that will allow you to search and extract text from images. However, the other components are being fully deprecated. The MODI print driver can be substituted with the Windows Fax printer driver. The MODI viewer can be substituted by the Windows Image and Fax viewer (albeit the Windows viewer is not as powerful as MODI...you may be able to use 3rd party software here). The Scanning component can be substituted with the 3rd party software that came with your printer/fax or by the Windows Scanning functionality.

  • MODI was removed from Office 2007 - the format was supereseded by XPS.
