hi,

i have built a mobile version for my website, can i make just a simple icon for all mobile platforms that when i click on opens my website ? if yes how ? and do i need 2 do the link from the icon in a different method for each platform or will it work on all platforms ?

Hi Ramym,

I'm afraid there isn't a single website icon standard common to all mobile platforms.

To supply an icon for iOS devices, you can specify an "apple-touch-icon" as detailed at http://developer.apple.com/library/safari/#documentation/appleapplications/reference/safariwebcontent/configuringwebapplications/configuringwebapplications.html

For Windows Phone 7, if the user chooses "Pin to Start" to add your page to their home screen, as far as I'm aware it will display a thumbnail of your page rather than any particular icon.
