Kinect, UWP, Unity package RRS feed

  • Question

  • As I understand we are waiting for new Kinect drivers for UWP. That's alright. Since I have Kinect games on Windows store, made in Unity, and some people have asked for the possibility to be able to play them on the Xbox console, I wonder if those new drivers will connect it all at the same time?
A new Unity package?? To build for both PC and Xbox? It seemed like the best thing was to wait for that instead of develop for two tracks.
And if I later on could walk around in those Kinect games with a Hololens on, that would make me totally flip over (and I would probably fall on the floor when fighting some bots too, working on a space shooter game now and would just love to play it in 3D).
So, drivers that connect it all, yes, Kinect team??

There will be no V2 SDK for UWP.  You have to build up your own skeletal tracking layer from the new UWP lower level APIs.

  • Well, in that case, lets hope that someone have the mercy to make a tutorial on that topic. However, I'm optimistic, perhaps microsoft will come up with something before the end of the year.
