Regarding to Windows Media Foundation?

  • What are you trying to do? What is your specific scenario?

The Windows Runtime media stack is built on the Windows Media Foundation, but most apps will interact only with the Windows Runtime classes not with the underlying API.

The desktop tutorial you linked is not relevant for Windows Runtime apps. While the basic concepts are valid (the graphic is still how things work), the sample code uses API which aren't directly exposed to Windows Runtime apps. The Media engine native C++ video playback sample is a similar sample which comes in at the MediaEngine level rather than the Media Session level.
