Lost keystore after crash of development machine RRS feed

    Hi,

Because of a hardware failure I had to reinstall my development machine. Now I want to publish a new version of my (Android) app, but I can't because I don't have the original keystore to sign the app with the same certificate as the previous version. As far as I have determined, I can't work around this and have to remove the current app from the store and add the new version as if it was a new app. By doing that, I'll lose history, etc. Is it true that there's no workaround for this issue? Why is it not documented anywhere that you have to backup the keystore manually? When different developers are working on the same app, they will also need to have the keystore in order to publish, right?

Why isn't the keystore included in the project folder so it'll be added to version control? Should I file a bug for this? (Also see: https://forums.xamarin.com/discussion/77936/xamarin-keystore-instructions-android-dangerously-avoids-the-backup-step-of-created-certificate)

    Kind regards,

    Rob Houweling

Hi, I am exactly in the same condition as you are. There is absolutely no F-ing documentation anywhere about saving the keystore. I came across this only after i tried publishing to the app store and started receiving errors. If only Xamarin had placed the keystore in the project. Now all I can do go into a corner and cry silently.

@mshenoyOcean Did you file a bugreport for this? If not, I will do that immediately.
