How to change folder permissions? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a site (intranet) with a multi level folder structure.  The folder structure contains content for different groups to work in (this just recently changed before it was only one person).  I need to secure the folders by assigning a different group owner to each folder.  This sounds easy enough but when I click on the folder drop down in MOSS, the option to Manage Permissions has a small lock next to it (In the drop down menu) and when I click on the option, the Manage Permissions window does not allow me to change any permissions.  I am an Admin on this instance.  How can I change the permissions at the folder level?

  • It sounds like your folder has the "Inherit permissions from its parent" setting turned ON.  In the Permissions window, have you tried clicking on Actions > Edit Permissions?
