  • As WindowsServerCore image doesn't include the UI capabilities.   It is not possible to RDP into containers.  But you can use docker attach or exec to connect with container console for your operations.  Is there any specific reason you would like to RDP into containers?

  • Sujay, i see your post is discussed in the below link on the same topic.

I still wonder the RDP support is not available in Window 2016 GA.  the .exe you are about to install doesn't support silent/unattended installation?

  • Is RDP to containers officially unsupported on WS 2016 GA? Can somebody confirm this officially? It was possible in TP3.

A microsoft/windowsservercore container with the shell installed on top and RDP enabled would be immensely useful to interact with GUI applications and for installations that do not currently support silent msi installations. Is this available or even possible? There's lots of threads on this but nobody seems to have a concrete answer.

  • I think it is very important that microsoft return rdp access to the containers, because some applications simply need GUI access at least during installation, another big problem is that not even a file share or server service is working.
Server have no console session, session is not interactive, because of that every app that even tries to get a handle of desktop it will probably crash.Im playing with containers last few monts, there are many services but only few can be startet.

  • Containers are greate idea, but very hard to use it without rdp,  will wait for rdp acess
