how to change default print properties for user??? (Papersource) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Iam looking for a way in C# to change the default print properties (Paper Source (example: tray1, tray2) for multiple installed printers
Was thinking to run this as a console app at startup so that the paper sources are setup like we want at every startup.
Since I noticed Windows 10 pushes back the standard properties from time to time.

Anyone got some experience in this and can push me in the right direction?

  • You shouldn't need to write an app for this. Just configure the default settings for the printer to use the correct paper source. I'm not aware of any issues with Windows 10 resetting printer settings and I've been running it for well over a year on different networks with different printer settings. Perhaps the issue is with your printers or the user's changing the defaults.

In regards to .NET you can use the System.Drawing.Printers namespace and the PrinterSettings class. I've never tried to change the default settings though.
