Why Kinect Data collecting rate is not constant? RRS feed

  • Hello all.

    I am doing a motion analysis project using kinect sensor. As I have to calculate the numerical derivatives, I have faced this problem.

    Kinect sampling rate is not constant and is actually less than 30 fps as mentioned by the developers. In fact, the time difference between tow adjacent frames will vary in a large range (including 5 to 100 mili seconds).

    I want to know whether or not you have recognized the same problem, or you know the reason and how can I get rid of it (even a little bit!).

    I am not using a SDK, instead I use openNI skeleton tracker presented in

    I guess that this problem accurs since I use Windows time in recording my data. Is it possible that Windows interrupts make my data delay?
