  • Hi,

    Thanks for reply.

The issue was resolved after registering Port on Azure Hortonworks cluster master node for ODBC connection. Port was not registered on Azure that's the reason I was not able to connect. Now its working fine.

  • Hi Manisha,

To connect HDInsight Hive server with Tableau, follow the below steps:

1.You need to download and install the Hive ODBC driver.

2.Open ODBC Data Sources (32/64 bit) => Go to System DSN => Click on Add.

Enter the below details as follows:

    Hosts: azurewala.azurehdinsight.net

    Port: 443

    Mechanism: Windows Azure HDInsight Service

    Username: admin

    Password: ***********

    Thrift Transport: HTTP

After entering the details, click on test and OK.

    3.Open Tableau => To a Server => More… => Select “Hortonworks Hadoop Hive”

    4. Enter the details as shown below.

    Server: HDInsight cluster URL.: azurewala.azurehdinsight.net

    Port: 443

    Authentication: Microsoft Azure HDInsight Service

    Username and Password: Cluster credentials.

And entering the details, click on Sign In

    Processing Request……..Connecting to data source……Connected.

    Hope this helps.
