  • Hi,

Could you give us any details about the errors you had ?

Either extract information in log Files or if you don't have any, right click on the failed test in 'Results' tab, click on 'error' and copy/paste the content here.

    Regards.

  • Hi HPK,

While connecting Server and two client machines using Switch,if you enable the DHCP, please ensure that you had a DHCP server otherwise you have to give manually the static IP address to all connected PCs(Server and two client machines).

Now run the tests again and share the status.

  • Oh okay, I get it.

You must set your Test Server and your Test Clients in the same LAN (e.g server 192.168.1.1 and Clients 192.168.1.2-x).

    Regards.

  • Thanks you so much for the reply

I have a problem with set up

i will explain my set up

I connected server, client support machine in the same network using switch in the same domain

    client win7 32

    support win7 64

Next i connected DUT to client ,i ran the test test was not at all executing

so i connected one more DUT to support machine

I ran the test ,test is executed ,1 test passed ,

for other test like mini6perfomance ,mini 6 check connection it took so much time, in the middle i could not see the progress, so  closed the test window and i checked the result RUN NDIS TEST CLIENT failed,

For address chang i got BSOD

Could you confirm my test set up is correct and problem is not with the test set up

    Thanks in advance

  • One more thing I connected DUT to machine via USB

there are no connection between 2 DUTs,

DUTs ip adress i have not changed

I changed only client and support machine IPs

    My DUT is USB modem

is the set up is correct should i do  some other settings also ,because I can not see any update after some time ,after some 1 hour (5 minute test) i got BSOD

Is this due to driver issue or set up issue

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

What do you mean by Support machine ?

What does the BSOD says ?

An ideal topology would be :

    Server (@192.168.0.1) connected to switch/hub

    Client1 (@192.168.0.2) connected to switch/hub

    Client2 (@192.168.0.3) connected to switch/hub

    ClientX (@192.168.0.X+1) connected to switch/hub

    Regards.

  • we need two machine execute the test right

1 .client -the one we used for other WHCK testing

2.support machine -for running 2 client testing ,

we can not proceed if we will not give the second machine for the NDIS 2CLIENT test in WHCK server studio

Could you please tell me where i need to connect the DUT

should i include the DUT also in the private network

as I am using two DUTs 1 for client machine and 1 for support machine

My set up is shown below.is it correct?

    dut------------client-----------n/w switch---------------support machine--------dut

           usb cable                          |                                              usb cable

                                                 server

    dut connected via usb cable

    Thanks in advance

  • The set up is correct but I'm still not familiar with you "support machine". You're saying that there are 2 clients on it, do you mean virtual machines ?

I'm understanding that 2 clients are running tests on one DUT on the support machine, is that right ?

    Regards.

  • For WHCK  we need server and 1 client right?

For NDIS 2 CLIENT set up we need 2 client right?

The other machine (second client ) i called as support machine

2 clients and server are in same network doamain

I connected 1 DUT to client and 1DUT to other client(support machine)

    thanks

  • Hi HPK,

I think in your setup one step missing that is connection between two DUTs.

Hey first you clarify me why you require two DUTs(I think the device which is connect to client ie DUT and here support machine contains the support device right..DUT is the device to test/validating using WHQL )

So one DUT and one support device(What is the device you are validating exactly ie DUT).

  • So you are basically running test on two Test Clients with OS Win7x32 and Win7x64 with a DUT plugged to each one. Server and Clients are in the same network and plugged to the same switch/hub. So far nothing wrong.

So the issue is from tests, can you give us the error you get ? Right-click on the failed test and copy/paste the pop-up window content here. If you have logs copy/paste them here too.

Are you testing the Device or a Driver for the device ?

    Regards.

  • Thank you so much for your reply Yesubabu

I can not connect my two DUTs (Modems)it does not have a connector its a usb device ,no port

As a support device I am using another DUT (second)

DUT is device under test that is a moedm

can i use anything as support device  other than dut?

  • Dear Ingenico

Thank you so much for confirming that

    I am testing device, modem

    I am rerunning the test

Issues I faced were with these child job

    RUN NDIS TEST CLIENT

    RUN NDIS TEST SERVER

After running these child job BSOD is coming in support machine(second client) Is it because of driver issue or set up issue

    Thanks in advance

    Thursday, April 25, 2013 1:33 PM
  • I will need the BSOD error and the minidump analyse. We can't find your issue without that.

    Regards.

  • Hi Ingenico,

What is the difference between testing a Device or Driver of the device. I am not understanding that can you elaborate..

    Thanking You..:)

  • Hi HPK,

The BSOD getting only because of the Driver issue.

In that BSOD note down the Bug check code(Like 0x00000007E) and take the mini dump file and find the issue in the Kernel Debugger.

  • Hi HPK,

What you said above setup correct but I think support device is standard device other than which device you are testing.

And don't use testing device as the support device.

  • Hi,

I'm just guessing that you can't test a device without testing a driver to certify either a driver or a device but nevermind that. I think HPK is actually certifying a driver for his modem, am I right ?

    Regards.

    Thursday, April 25, 2013 2:58 PM
  • Yes I am certifying driver

Issues I faced were with this child job

    RUN NDIS TEST CLIENT

Problem is It(I think clent) can not bind with support device

During 'RUN NDIS TEST CLIENT' the test stops i guess,no progress

How can i bind my support device?

To what i need to bind ?

Please let me know the devices that can be used as support device for my test

    Thanks in advance

  • I suppose you have a USB connectic on your DUT, so connecting it to a USB 2.0 / 3.0 port on your "Support" PC should suffice.

Eventually try to reinstall your device driver.

    Regards.

  • Sorry for the late reply

    USB connection is there

But the DUT is alrerady connected to client ,so can not connect it to support pc,to support PC I have connected support device

Do you know any standerd support device ?

    One work around I found

Mine is a USB sevice so is it compulsory to do the NDIS two client test ?

When i change the device type by editting the registry the no of tests is getting redused ,no two client test are present

I think I need to do some LAN Test if and only if the device ethernet device type mine is USB type no Ethernet port in device only USB port is there

So is this the corect way ?

    Thanks in Advance

  • Hi,

So you only have one DUT ?

I'm sorry, but, can you clarify "support device" ? What kind of device is this ? How is it connected ? Tell us more about it please.

I don't think you need to change anything in Registry. It might mess up everything.

Try to do some LAN test and keep in touch.

    Regards.

  • I can arrange more

Support device  is one that we will connect to support machine

At present I am using another DUT as support device, but I was told that not to use DUT as support device,in the above post by Yesubabu

ie one dut to client another dut to support machine as support device

Thing is my dut and support device(another) has only USB connector so i can not establish connection between

    1.suppport device and DUT

    2.Client and support device

I tried to use static IP for both DUT and support device then  so many tests got cancelled and test failed

    Tuesday, April 30, 2013 10:24 AM
  • What test is RUN NDIS TEST CLIENT part of ?

Look at this page, maybe you can find some piece of information :

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh998591.aspx

    Regards.

    Tuesday, April 30, 2013 11:55 AM
  • That is the part of almost all 2client test

    I read that doc

I think in  my case the connection between support and dut is not established

As I told that are usb device how can i establish connection between them

There are virtual ethernet port present

So tried to assign static Ip addres but the test is not running with that

So please tell me how can i establish a connection between DUT  and Support device (another DUT)

DUT is a USB modem having 3 NDIS Ethernet adapter,in that only one is active at a time, with out ethernet port

    Regards

    Tuesday, April 30, 2013 12:31 PM
  • So those USB modem are built without ethernet port ?

Maybe it's possible to do Ethernet over USB but I don't know what it requires on software and hardware sides.

Can you give us the exact name of the test and not only the job ?

    Tuesday, April 30, 2013 12:41 PM

  • Don't you still have log files to show to us ?

You said  tests were running on both machine and got cancelled but we still don't knkow why it got cancelled a copy/paste of a logfile or error log would help greatly.

  • Hi HPK,

Even if you enable the DHCP can't get IP dynamically if you don't have the support of DHCP Server. So give the IP address as static (The test server and two client machines) try it once and me also done same thing issue resolved.

My self also thinking about support device ... I think get one standard working modem as the support device.! And main thing is I am not getting the complete picture of the setup which you implemented.

  • I will explain

I have a server,2 clients all in same domain hope you are clear

Next I am connecting my DUT that is a modem  having 3 viirtual  ethernet NDIS adapter,it has only usb connector to client through USB

as a support device I used another DUT (later I some other board but not helped),

Both DUT if the i set static ip in the sever domain the tests are getting cancelled if dynamic ip is assignedd the test are running but one sub task called RUN NDIS TEST CLIENT is failing in all case so the all test are shown as fail

Please help me to solve this
