event clr20r3 p1 errors on end user applications RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm working with a client who dad a very nasty set of Trojan's/Virii on awinXP sp3 32bit dell laptop.

.NET was hosed at all versions. Couldn't fix any of it, so I used the dotnet_cleanup_tool and then installed .NET 1.1, 2.0, 3.5 & 2008 redist_x86.

That cleaned up a whole lot of the problems. I have found 2 apps that are still not wanting to start.

    1) Yahoo Messenger: has a very generic error on app start:"The application failed to initialize properly"

    2) Boulevard: gives the "eventtype clr20r3 p1" error. See image below.

I'm focusing on the CLR error in the hopes that this will be the culprit overall.

Almost all of the articles have to do with the dev side of things. I do not have that option as these are end user / vendor supplied products.

Any ideas? I did find this: - I haven't had a chance to try that yet, bust as we all know, there are a multitude of remedies for the same error.

    Thank you in advance...
