Uploaded device data seems to go to production servers RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi

I was experimenting with the device support that HV provides and it seems that the data uploaded via device simulators goes to account.healthvault.com even though the connection centre says that it is connected to development servers.

Is there something that I am missing.

  • Version 2.0 uses a different method of decided what server to communicate to.

If you sign out, you should see a "services" menu that allows you to switch between the dev and production servers...

  • A couple of thoughts that might help:

First, if you are using the built-in shortcuts to switch between the dev and consumer environments, you will need to exit from connection center and restart it for it to use the new settings.

Second, if you aren't using the newest SDK, your scripts for the developer server are likely pointing to the wrong server, so installing the new SDK would be a good idea to fix that.

You can find the scripts that do the switching in:

    \Program Files\Microsoft HealthVault\SDK\Tools

I am using the SDK which was made available on 14th Feb. It does not seem to have any relevant script in

    \Program Files\Microsoft HealthVault\SDK\Tools folder.

    This is what I have

    ComputerCertificates.msc
    HVCC_Consumer.reg
    HVCC_Developer.reg
    winhttpcertcfg.exe

  • Sorry...

You can execute the .reg files to switch between.

You should be able to execute the consumer one, exit and restart Connection center, and have it switch.

Note that you have to tell connection center to exit by right clicking on it in the system tray - choosing the close icon from the open window merely minimizes it.

  • I could solve this problem using the following solution:

    --------------------------

    Look for directory

    %ALLUSERSAPPDATA%\Microsoft\HealthVault\Connection Center\DevProdSwitcher

    or

    %APPDATA%\Microsoft\HealthVault\Connection Center\DevProdSwitcher

On my machine (Windows Vista) it is C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\HealthVault\Connection Center\DevProdSwitcher

In this there is an executable "dev.bat", executed it to start feeding data to dev server (e.g. www.microsofthealthbeta.com) .

  • the dev.bat file is what is executed when you choose the shortcut in connection center, so if you do it through CC and then exit and restart, you should see the same behavior.

Not that microsofthealthbeta.com is the old developer server, and it will be turned off in a few weeks. The new one is at healthvault-ppe.com, and you can find full instructions for how to switch to it on the website.  I *think* the current SDK points at the new developer server, but I could be mistaken.

  • I can't get the HV Connection Center to connect to the PPE environment whatever I do. I'm using two different XP machines that both have the latest SDK and I've tried running the batch files and importing the reg files and they still connect to the prod environment.

I've restarted the connection center and even rebooted multiple times. CC doesn't show a "Production" icon to switch and it connects to HV prod. The Help link in CC does go to PPE: https://www.healthvault-ppe.com/help.aspx?topicid=ConnectionCenterHelp.

I've gone into the registry and confirmed that the entries are pointing to PPE as shown below.

    Any ideas?

  • What version of CC are you using?

    Monday, October 20, 2008 5:44 PM
  • Version 2.0.1721.3401 on both machines. I re-downloaded and installed the SDK and the standalone CC in the last 48 hours to ensure I had the latest version.
