Problem with Windows XP 64-bit and mirrors RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have tried several ways to boot my server with SATA-only interfaces in RAID/AHCI mode on Windows XP 64-bit OS.  I get the BSOD crash with error 7B everytime.

    Here is what I've tried:

    1.  Bypass the AHCI check with Windows setup and hitting F7 instead.
    2.  Placing the ahci drivers on a USB memory stick and by using F6 to load the additional drivers.
    3.  Slipstreamed the drivers with SP2 into a new installation DVD.

Eventually, I installed Windows onto my SATA drives with ISA mode set in the BIOS.  Now I would like to mirror the primary disk onto a secondary disk which is identical to the primary, but the 'Add mirror' option in the Disk Management utility is greyed out.  How broken is XP x64 really?

Ideally, I would like for the hardware raid to work, but if XP x64 is so crippled, can someone tell me how to get the Windows mirroring to work?

    Regards,
    Bjoern

PS.  Motherboard is a MSI 970A-G46 annd CPU is AMD FX-6200 with 8Gb memory.
