Cant install unsigned driver. No advanced boot menu! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear everyone,

I am currently stuck in a very frustrating problem.

I am using an Embedded PC (with e3845 Processor) and windows 8.1 industry pro on it. As we need many periverals I wanted to install an unsigned driver. No problem was my guess: go to advanced boot menu as discribed in multiple online posts (e.g. and deactivate the signature check. Well here the problem starts: I cant boot into the advanced boot menu. It just doesn't show up. If I hit F8 on boot (there is no UEFI on this embedded, as on all available embedded pcs out there) or force the next boot into advanced boot menu, I always end up in the "boot menu". An no I am not talking about the legacy advanced boot menu ( but the REALLY old one:

Unnecessary to say I cant just click on deactivate driver signature enforcing. So I tried lots of different ways to install my unsigned driver:

    • edit the boot entry to disable the check
    • boot into kernel debug mode (which doesnt work as well) (via BCDEDIT command or by adding /debug on the boot menu)
    • disable this check permantently as discribed here:
    • hundreds of different BCDEDIT commands

None of those actions work. I still can't install the driver nor access the advanced boot menu. I am out of ideas and even the all mighty google oracle couldn't help me any more.

Do you guys have any idea why I cant access the advanced boot menu? Which other options do I have to install the driver?
