ADDING FILES TO HTML DOC. RRS feed

  • LOOK I KNOW THIS MIGHT SOUND ODD, BUT I AM WORKING ON A FTP SERVER AND AM USING THE EXPRESSION WEB BS TO TRY AND EDIT THE INDEX.HTML FILE. MY PROBLEM COMES IN HERE WHY CANT I ADD  ANY FILES (EXE., ZIP, ECT) TO MY PAGE. LOOK I WANNA KNOW HOW TOINSERT FILES INTO MY PAGE TO HOST THEM ON MY SERVER. THE PAGE IS FINE I JUST CANT SEEM TO LIKE MY FILES I WANNA HOST TO THE DOC. WTFWJD? I NEED SOME HELP PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

  • First off sounds like you are working live on the server. Not a practice to be recommended. Better to work locally so that you can thoroughly test and debug the pages and changes to pages before they are published.

    As for adding files, you can't add them to a page as such. You can link to them and the user will then get a prompt to open them or save them.

    To do this add the files to a folder on the site and then create a hyperlink on a page to the file. You would then upload the files via FTP.

  • You don't "add" files to the your html document. You upload the files to your server then you add a hyperlink to them.

    Working live on the server is inherently dangerous since any mistake are immediately viewable by any site visitor.

    BTW, please don't use all caps, it is hard to read and very much against netequitte since it is seen as SHOUTING.
