Setting up Windows 12 server r2 VPN for remote access outside of LAN. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me configure my Windows Server 2012 r2 VPN for remote access. At the moment, I can access the VPN on the LAN but not remotely, I have configured Remote Access for my server by installing DirectAccess and VPN(RAS), remote access is configured using the Deploy VPN option in the Configure Remote Access Getting Started Wizard. I was wondering if I need a public domain and IP address for the server so I can connect to it from outside the LAN. At the moment, the server is configured using a private domain ( and a private IP address too. I have also opened the required PPTP and IPSec ports on the router.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!,

You have erroneously posted your Windows Server question in a public user forum dedicated to question about Microsoft Project Server, an enterprise project management application.  I would recommend you repost your question to one of the Windows Server sections of the Microsoft Q&A user forum at:

    Hope this helps.
