    have an application that is using MAPI/CDO with exchange 2007.

    the application support more than 10,000 users who will have their mailbox manage by the mapi application.

    we see this message recently and not sure if it's because of the number of users or another issue:

    CExchSession::Login - Couldn't connect to <server name>. Reason:  [Collaboration Data Objects - [E_OUTOFMEMORY(8007000E)]]

    i was told there is a limit of MAPI/CDO sessions of ?5000? but i can't seem to find this in writing.

    any suggestions that should be looked at or point me to a link which states the limit.

  • I am not aware of a hard limit and especially not by 5000, but even if the limit is higher how does it help you. Your server ran into an out of memory issue and we should figure out why. How much memory does your servers have? Have you observed a correlation between the OOM issues and increasing connections by your application? What exactly is your application doing on the mailboxes?

    hello Timo,

    the "e_outofmemory" is not coming from the Windows OS rather the MAPI/CDO session.

    no i'm not low in memory i don't see a memory issue. i have 10 gbyte free on the machine.

    i don't understand the MAPI/CDO message i'm getting. i don't know what memory i'm using i assume it might be in the Exchange but the Exchange engineers say they are not seeing memory issues or any errors.

    so the application which has a MAPI/CDO wrapper is getting the message back from the call to login into the mailbox.

  • I think what your referring to is the "maximum allowed sessions per user" registry entry see http://blogs.msdn.com/b/pareshj/archive/2010/07/29/session-exhaustion-error-quot-the-maximum-number-of-sessions-for-the-current-user-has-been-reached-quot.aspx and http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB20066 (its a common BES issue)

    You should check the event log on the Mailbox Role server as you should be seeing an Error being logged if you are hitting this problem you can also use Exmon to do some troubleshooting http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11461 of client connections

    Cheers

    basically this kb helped: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/269794

    we had to add another of our MAPI appliction to another server along with the ExchangeMAPICDO and distribute the load between the two servers to manage the user's email. setting the registry keys outline in the above kb and distribution we are able to deal with the number user sessions.

    thank you all.
