Clarification on 'moving folders with workflows RRS feed

Answers

  • The answer is the same for either SPD 2007 or 2010.  No there is no way to move a folder in SPD without building a custom action in Visual Studio as described in the article you quoted.

  • If you are asking is there a built-in activity that can be used to move folders in a workflow in SPD, then the answer is no.  YOu would need to build or install a custom activity as the message suggests.

  • I am working with SharePoint Designer 2007, which I've only recently gained access to.

    Thanks for your help Paul,

This doesn't add anything to the information in this thread beyond the fact that you confirm that you are asking about a *SPD 2007* workflow (as opposed to a built-in workflow or a VS workflow).

Paul already gave you his comment based on the assumption that you were asking about an SPD workflow. Do you have any further question for forum members including Paul on the reply he gave or are you satisfied with the answer you already received?

The answer that I was looking for was "no, there is no way using SPD alone that you can create a workflow that will move folders." My comment to Paul about SPD was based on the fact that I have mainly been working with the 'out-of-the-box' templates that come with the libraries, and am still learning SPD.
