PowerPoint: Windows/Mac MsoPatternType inconsistency RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have the following VBA-code setting a patterned fill (to test it, simply create a new presentation, add one rectangle and have it selected):

    Sub Macro1()
        ActiveWindow.Selection.ShapeRange.Fill.Patterned 54
    End Sub

    I can run this macro in PowerPoint 2016 on Windows. However, when I use PowerPoint for Mac (version 15.25 according to the "About PowerPoint" window) and try to run the macro, I get the following error:

    Run-time error '-2147024809 (80070057)': The specified value is out of range.

    Setting pattern 53 on Mac works. Why is there an inconsistency between PowerPoint on Windows and on Mac?

    As a sidenote: When I create a presentation with pattern 54 on Windows, I apparently can load it on Mac.
