Error with ODBC linked server for AS-400 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I've created in two SQL Server 2005 environments a linked server by the ODBC for accessing to AS/400 system (Client Access).

When I read the test data I have no problems, but when I read the prod data the ODBC returns a unspecified error. Obviously, the format data is the same both test and data environment.

Now, does exist any limitation for this ODBC? Thanks

  • @pscorca,

If the Server is 64-Bit , you may face some issue with the AS400 32-bit ODBC driver. You could report this issue to IBM online support for more suggestion.

  • Ok, after more proofs, when I added inside the query string for the openquery the clause WHERE 1 = 1, the SELECT has functioned correctly!

    Thanks

  • Hi pscora,

I guess you have installed  the AS400 ODBC drivers that come along with the Client Access for Windows software.Once it's installed, you'll see a new ODBC driver option when setting up a new connection called 'Client Access ODBC Driver (32-bit)' and 'iSeries Access ODBC Driver'.What is the version of your OS ? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

  • Hi Peja,

the test db server is to 32-bit, the prod db server is to 64-bit, but on the prod db server other mapped AS/400 views function successfully.

    Thanks
