"Attaching" to a CLR process? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm wondering if it's possible to programmatically "attach" to a running CLR process for inter-process communication?  Essentially, I want to pull an AppDomain from another process.  Sort of like how one can Interop to the running instance of Outlook and get it to send an email.  Well in this case my "Outlook" is just another CLR process.  I realise I could just get my other CLR process to expose itself via WCF or some other remoting derivative, but I'd like an alternative.

  • Well what Outlook is to register itself as a running COM server, and you can do that with your own application too if you want (and control the source code). BUt it doesn't seem like a very .NET friendly way of doing it compared to, say, Remoting.
